I got to get transformed into a Warrior Goddess today, for a couple of hours.
I’ve had this photoshoot on my calendar for months, and early birthday gift to myself. The theme was “Spells,” and was focused on an aesthetic involving gauzy scarves, Tarot and oracle cards, crystals and gazing balls, and all things mystical and magickal.
Or, as I like to call it, “Thursday.”
I’ve shot with this photographer many times before (she did the pic that is my profile image) and had my hair and makeup done by this artist many times as well, for photoshoots and burlesque shows.
I showed up at the salon a little before 4 pm, brought in my bags and bags of props — most of them from my own altar — and sat in the chair to get transformed.
I never tell Viv, the makeup artist, what I have in mind. I trust her to know what is going to work best to make me look fabulous.
I had invoked The Morrigan, the Mighty Battle Crow, in Full Moon Circle last night, and she must have been still hanging around. Because only a moment or two after Viv began working on my hair, I asked, “Wait, do I have kind of a Mad Max thing happening here?” (I can’t see well without my glasses, so what was happening in the mirror was a blur.)
“Yep!” she cried. “I’m gonna make you into a Warrior!”
And she did.
Here’s a sneak peek….
Not pictured: My tank top which has a pic of an otter and reads, “I will crush the patriarchy like a clam on my tummy.”
